Top 5 Attractions ; Sydney City Centre

Opera House
Experience the icon of Sydney, one of the most creative and busiest performing arts centres in the world.
It hosts about 1600 performances each year such as ballet, opera, theatre, dance, music, comedy, kids shows and lots more.
There are various ways to explore the Opera House:

- visit one of the amazing shows
- attend a guided tour and discover the stories, magic and history
- sit on the stairs, enjoy the view and take in the atmosphere

 

Harbour Bridge
Sydney’s Harbour Bridge is one of Australia’s most well known landmarks.
It is the largest (however not the longest) steel arch bridge in the world.
As the top of the bridge stands 134m above the harbour, it offers a stunning view of Sydney.
You have the choice of three great adventures that take you to the top of this famous bridge. They are available at dawn, day, twilight and night:

- the Express Climb
- the Discovery Climb
- the Bridge Climb

You may also like to take the free pedestrian path across the bridge alongside the road or climb the pylon for a small fee.




Queen Victoria Building
The QVB was built in 1898 as a monument to the reigning monarch.
It is located on the corner of Market and George Street.
It is much loved for its amazing architecture and great range of local and global fashion, jewellers, cafes and home wares.
The formal dining area also offers a memorable high tea experience.


The Rocks
Explore the famous historic area of Sydney’s city centre.
There is a fine collection of boutiques, heritage buildings, galleries and restaurants plus the colourful Rocks Markets which are held every weekend.
The Rocks walking tour offers a clear insight into the convict history and the hidden alleys of the area.


The Royal Botanic Gardens
The Royal Botanic Gardens are one of the city’s most beautiful spots. Discover Sydney’s flora and fauna including rainforest walks, wishing trees, orchard butterflies and more.
Its 30 hectares of park land are located right near the Opera House steps and forecourt and border the harbour. It is a popular location for weekend picnics, tourist sightseeing and unique events such as the open-air cinema.

Sydney Beaches

Now that summer's approaching it's the perfect time to check out some of the beaches around Sydney! Don't forget to bring sunscreen and some friends :)

Bondi Beach

This famous beach is known all over the world for its great surfing waves and the masses of people gathering together. If the water is still too cold you can go to the Bondi Icebergs Pool right next to the beach! You won't get bored here, there are always things going on and something to look at.

Tamarama Beach

Also known as "Glamarama", this beach is smaller and less crowded than Bondi. You can grab a body board and catch some waves or relax in the park right behind the beach. There are also coin operated BBQs!

Manly Beach

Take the ferry to Manly and enjoy the beautiful view of Sydney's skyline. Relax at the beach, do some kayaking or explore the Manly markets next to the beach.

Coogee Beach

This beach can be reached when you do the Coastal Walk starting in Bondi. It's a 6km walk that offers great views of the coast. Coogee is perfect for swimming and snorkeling because of its calm waters. Stay here the whole day, watch the sunset and enjoy an evening in one of the bars !

Watson's Bay

The relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful views of the skyline definitely make Watson's Bay worth the trip. The small boats on the water and the trees all around the park make it a very picturesque spot. You can catch the ferry or bus to get there.

Travel time!!

While Sydney Internships office was closed, I was lucky to have some time to travel a little :)

I had such a great time with Alina, one of our interns!! 

We went to the Base travel agency and booked our trip. First we took the Premier overnight bus that took us from Sydney to Byron Bay, where we enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere of this small beach town. We kayaked and saw some dolphins, it was so amazing and definitely something I will never forget !

Then we took the Premier bus again and drove to Brisbane. All of the tickets were purchased through the travel agency, so we didn't need to worry about where to get them :) In Brisbane we walked across the shopping malls and went to the cinema. It's a nice city with plenty to see and do.

Another highlight of our tour was a camping trip to Moreton Island that included fun activities. This island is much less popular than its more famous island neighbor Fraser Island, but I don't understand why! It feel like you're stranded on a deserted island. There are beautiful beaches,lagoons and bays. We took a million pictures :) We explored the whole area in a 4WD car, which was a really bumpy ride! Then we went sandboarding on huge dunes.

We slept in tents and some spiders,bugs and even a biiig snake visited us, UGH!

But we survived and went snorkeling around the ship wrecks on the next day, where we fed the fish which was fun :)

After our camping trip we went back to Brisbane by ferry and had a fun night out at some bars!

On our last day in Brisbane it was raining ALL DAY, but we still had a good time and visited South Bank which has a nice promenade along the river.

Then it was already time for us to head back to Sydney...We had booked a really cheap flight and it only took us about an hour to get back to our Sydney home :)
