Sydney Beaches

Now that summer's approaching it's the perfect time to check out some of the beaches around Sydney! Don't forget to bring sunscreen and some friends :)

Bondi Beach

This famous beach is known all over the world for its great surfing waves and the masses of people gathering together. If the water is still too cold you can go to the Bondi Icebergs Pool right next to the beach! You won't get bored here, there are always things going on and something to look at.

Tamarama Beach

Also known as "Glamarama", this beach is smaller and less crowded than Bondi. You can grab a body board and catch some waves or relax in the park right behind the beach. There are also coin operated BBQs!

Manly Beach

Take the ferry to Manly and enjoy the beautiful view of Sydney's skyline. Relax at the beach, do some kayaking or explore the Manly markets next to the beach.

Coogee Beach

This beach can be reached when you do the Coastal Walk starting in Bondi. It's a 6km walk that offers great views of the coast. Coogee is perfect for swimming and snorkeling because of its calm waters. Stay here the whole day, watch the sunset and enjoy an evening in one of the bars !

Watson's Bay

The relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful views of the skyline definitely make Watson's Bay worth the trip. The small boats on the water and the trees all around the park make it a very picturesque spot. You can catch the ferry or bus to get there.

A very Sydney weekend!

G'day,

another fun weekend has flown by. On Friday we went to Bondi Beach and just relaxed in the sun for a while. Some of my German friends from home moved to Sydney last week so I played the tour guide and showed them some of my favourite places. I love the coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte on a sunny day and we also went to watch the free Darling Harbour fireworks.
Friday night we had a BBQ with our flatmates and some of their friends which was so much fun.

On Saturday we went to Paddington Markets. It's a great place to shop for clothes, jewellery, photography, art and other nice things. It is on Oxford Street in Paddington.

Paddington Markets

Don't mix these markets up with Paddy's Markets....completely different! Paddy's are in China Town, Haymarket. You can shop for really cheap souvenirs, clothes, fruit and vegetables. It is very crowded and dark but you can grab a few good bargains.

Paddy's Market

There are a lot of good markets in Sydney to discover. For more information about the various local markets that Sydney has to offer click here.

Sunday we went to Bondi Beach once more and swam in the ocean for the first time. The water is cold once you step in but when you're in it is fantastic.

Sunday afternoon we went to see the Royal Botanical Garden. Unfortunately it closes at 6.30pm so we couldn't spend a long time there. From the Botanical Garden there is a perfect view of the harbour, Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. Very nice...

Gardens

Next weekend is the Surf Camp and I am really excited about it. I hope the weather will be good.... The weather forecast announced sun and I hope it will be right at least this one time.

Don't forget about the time shift this weekend. Sunday 3am Australia will change their clock one hour backwards.

Time change

Have a good week!

until then...
